Lecanora epibryon (Ach.) Ach. subsp. xanthophora Lumbsch

  Differs from subsp. broccha in lacking the stictic acid chemosyndrome. Chemistry: Thallus and apothecial margin K+ yellow to reddish, C+ orange to reddish, Pd+ yellowish orange; containing 2,5,7-trichloro-3-O-methylnorlichexanthon (major), atranorin (submajor), ±barbatic acid (submajor), 5,7-dichloro-3-O-methylnorlichexanthone (sub-major), arthothelin (minor), asemone (minor), chloroatranorin (minor), ±7-chloronorliche-xanthone (minor), ±2,5-dichloronorlichexanthone (minor), ±2,7-dichloronorlichexanthone (minor), 5,7-dichloronorlichexanthone (minor), ±gyrophoric acid (minor), isoarthothelin (minor), ±lecanoric acid (minor), ±4-O-demethylbarbatic acid (minor), 3-O-methylasemone (minor), ±methyl barbatate (minor), ±thiophanic acid (minor) and 2,5,7-trichloroliche-xanthone (minor).
     
  Occurs in N.S.W., A.C.T., Vic. and Tas. Outside Australia this subspecies is known from southern South America (Patagonia, Tierra del Fuego) and mountains in New Guinea and New Zealand.
